Thought those fancy basmati prices were a scam until I tried the cheap stuff
I used to buy the 10 pound bag of basmati at Costco for $15. Switched to a store brand for $7 to save cash. Rice came out mushy every single time. After three attempts I went back to the Costco bag. Has anyone else found that sticking to a specific brand actually saves money in the long run?

The Costco bag is honestly a lifesaver. I did the same thing with a generic brand and ended up with sticky, gummy rice that ruined two dinners. Sticking with the trusted brand is worth the extra few bucks because you don't waste food or time. Being cheap on rice just costs more in the end, at least in my kitchen.

That 10 pound Costco bag has saved my sanity more than once, especially after watching cheap rice turn into paste in my rice cooker. Three mushy batches is three too many, I would have given up after the first one and just eaten toast. You're basically paying extra for the privilege of not having to scrape clumpy rice bricks out of your pot every time.
