Found a weird trick that saved me $80 on my electric bill
I kept forgetting to unplug my phone charger and a few other things, so I put all my small electronics on a power strip with a timer set to turn off at midnight. Last month my bill dropped by $80 compared to the same time last year. Has anyone else tried something like this and seen actual results?

...and honestly I didn't even notice a difference? I mean, I put my stuff on a smart plug that shuts off at 10pm, but my bill barely moved. Maybe it was because my biggest energy hog is my old desktop computer (like from 2014, it sounds like a jet engine). I did save like $15 once by switching my fridge to a higher temp setting though, so that was something. But yeah, the timer thing seems hit or miss depending on what you're plugging in.

Yeah, that's rough. Your mileage may vary big time with this stuff, I've had similar hit or miss results depending on the device. The old desktop is probably what's eating your power, not the little stuff on timers.
