Just hit a random $500 savings milestone and it felt surreal
I was just checking my accounts last night and saw my emergency fund hit $5,000. That's not huge for most people but for me it's a big deal because I've been living paycheck to paycheck for like 3 years straight. I picked up a side gig delivering groceries on weekends back in March and put every dollar from that into a separate account. No big plan, just wanted to see what happened. Somehow after 6 months of grinding through rain and rude customers it added up. The number looked fake when I saw it on the screen. Has anyone else hit a random milestone that caught them off guard and made them question their own habits?

Yeah @abby_henderson that same thing happened to me when I hit $1,000 just from tips I forgot about.

The whole "the number looked fake" part got me good because I had the exact same moment when my random savings account hit $750. I was like wait, did I accidentally deposit my rent? But nope, it was just a bunch of $20 tips from delivering food in the rain while my car smelled like someone else's leftover pizza. Honestly it made me realize I have zero self control when it comes to actual budgeting but somehow fool myself into saving by just not looking at the account.
