My coworker told me to track every coffee for a month
She said just write down each one, no budget change needed. I did it and saw I spent $87 last month on coffee shop drinks. That number shocked me, so I started making my own. Now I put that cash toward my car payment instead. Anyone else get a wake-up call from a simple tip like that?

What's wrong with spending money on something you enjoy? That coffee run is a small treat that makes your day better. I'd rather keep my little joys and cut back somewhere less fun.

That five dollar coffee four times a week is over a thousand dollars a year. It adds up so fast. That money could cover a real vacation or pay down a credit card. Small treats are fine, but calling a daily habit a "little joy" hides how much it actually costs. You can find cheaper ways to make your day better.
