Okay, so I just found out my 'emergency fund' was actually costing me about $200 a month in lost interest, lmao. I kept it in my regular checking account for 'easy access' for 3 years.

My friend was talking about her high-yield savings account and mentioned her APY. I looked at mine and it was basically zero. Did the math and I've been leaving so much money on the table. Where do you guys keep your emergency cash so it's still liquid but not totally useless?

Ugh, that hurts to think about. I mean, even a basic savings account with a tiny bit of interest is better than nothing. Makes you want to go move it right now.

My buddy did that, lost a fortune.

Man, that's rough. But honestly, I wonder if the real problem was his mindset going in. A lot of people treat it like a quick lottery ticket instead of a long, slow grind. They get scared by the first dip and pull out at the worst time. Did your buddy have a clear plan for when to walk away, win or lose?
