They mentioned a major factory pollution leak that never made their local news, only appearing on a few international sites. It made me realize how much we rely on local sources without questioning what's missing. Anyone else have a story about a gap like that in their country's reporting?

Yeah, that bit about the factory leak not making local news hits home. I remember reading about a big mining spill in Brazil a few years back. The international environmental blogs were all over it, but the major news channels in the country barely mentioned it for days. It was all about a political scandal instead. Makes you wonder what gets pushed aside on purpose.

That dam failure in Brazil killed 270 people, @the_charles. The real scandal is how fast local media moves on from disasters that don't fit the right story.
