Last week I saw a whole news article disappear from Google in real time

I was scrolling through some local Ohio news about a water testing scandal near the fracking sites. One minute the article was there with like 15 comments, and the next minute it was completely gone from search results. I even checked on different browsers and using VPNs. The URL still worked if I had it saved, but it was like Google just pretended it never existed. My buddy in Columbus said he saw the same thing happen with a different story about a school board complaint last month. Makes me wonder how often this happens and we just don't notice. Anyone else catch something vanish like that recently?

Pile on to that. Called my cousin who does web dev work, he said Google's got these automated systems that just yank pages if they get flagged for anything. Even a false report can kill a story. Said it happens way more than people know. The scary part is there's no appeal process for most small news sites. They just disappear from the search results and lose all their traffic overnight. Makes you wonder how much real news gets buried that way.

Dude yes! I caught the same thing happening with a story about contaminated wells near Akron. It was on the front page of Google News for maybe two hours then poof, gone. My cousin works at a paper in Toledo and she said they've noticed their older investigative pieces just randomly stop showing up in search results for no reason. It's super weird how fast stuff can just disappear.
