Debate at my office: Is it better to hire based on skills or how well someone fits the team?
Half of us push for hiring folks with top skills, even if they're a bit tough to work with, because it gets things done fast. The other half says a good team fit matters more, since clashes can slow down projects and mess up morale. We're stuck on this for our next hire in operations. What's your view on balancing this, lmao?

Operations teams mostly work set hours, so the 3am cleaning example might not fit. What's the actual teamwork problem you're trying to avoid?

Yeah that "clashes can slow down projects" thing is so real. I see it everywhere, like with roommates. One person could be amazing at cleaning but if they do it at 3am yelling along to music, the whole system falls apart. A decent cleaner who works with the group's schedule gets more done overall. Skills matter, but if someone wrecks the flow, you never get to use those skills right.
