Finally got our inventory variance under 1% for the first time
After 6 months of tweaking our cycle counting process, we hit 0.8% variance last week. The key was switching from monthly full counts to daily spot checks on our top 20 SKUs. Has anyone else seen better accuracy with smaller more frequent counts?

Honestly I think daily spot checks are the ONLY way to go if you want real accuracy. We tried monthly counts at my last place and it was a complete joke, numbers were always off by the end of the month. The problem is people get lazy and don't track stuff as it happens, so by the time you count everything you've already got a mess. Smaller frequent counts force everyone to stay on top of their game every single day. It's way more work upfront but it saves you from those big ugly surprises later on. Plus your team gets way better at noticing when something's off right away instead of waiting weeks to find out.

Dude you said it gets people to notice when something's off right away, that's the part I keep wondering about. How do you train people to actually catch those small inconsistencies during a daily spot check instead of just going through the motions? Like half my team would probably just scan stuff and call it good without really looking at the numbers. Did you have any system or trick that made them pay real attention during those checks?
