I blew $400 on a fancy corner jig for cabinets and it's just collecting dust

That Kreg jig with the dust port attachment was supposed to make pocket holes easy, but it kept jamming on pine and I went back to my old manual drill guide after three jobs - has anyone else found a corner clamp that actually works without fighting it?

Did you try waxing the screw threads or was it straight out of the box?

Man that's the secret right there. I've built three workbenches and a bookshelf over the last year and I learned the hard way that wax is the difference between a clean build and a frustrating mess. Straight out of the box those screws grab like crazy and you'll strip half the heads before you're done. Last project I tried using a candle stub I had lying around just rubbed it on the threads a few times and it was like magic. Now I keep a block of paraffin wax in my toolbox specifically for this it's ridiculous how much easier things go together.
