My buddy keeps asking me to fix his cheap store bought cabinets

Every time I go over, he points out a new wobble or a drawer that sticks and says 'you can sort this in five minutes, right?' I explained that particle board with stripped screws isn't worth repairing, but he just doesn't get it. Now I'm avoiding his calls because I don't want to tell him his whole kitchen needs replacing, lol. It's like he thinks I have a magic wand for bad furniture.

A few simple repairs could actually make those cabinets last for several more years.

Used to believe once cabinets got worn you had to replace the whole thing... but seeing how just tightening all the hinges, filling a couple scratches with a wax marker, and adding new pulls made my kitchen look fresh again really changed my view. The doors close properly now and the whole set feels solid. It’s crazy what a difference those small fixes made for basically no money. They really do have more life left in them.

Yeah, the part about hinges and pulls making things feel solid is so true. I had a set that felt totally shot until I just glued and clamped a loose corner block and swapped the hardware. It bought me like five more years easy. Sometimes the fix really is that simple.
