TIL those cheap router bits from Amazon are just throwing money away

Bought a 15 piece set for $35 about 6 months ago, thinking I was being smart. First dovetail bit smoked after maybe 30 passes on some oak. Second bit, a flush trim, started wobbling so bad it left gouges. Wasted about $50 in wood trying to salvage a cabinet door. Should have just spent the $80 on one good bit from a real supplier. Anyone else get burned by those multi-packs?

Ha! Yeah, that 15 piece set for $35 is basically a starter kit for frustration. I learned the same lesson when my "carbide" trim bit started smoking on some birch plywood and left a groove that looked like a drunk beaver went at it. Never cheap out on bits unless you want your "project" to turn into expensive firewood.

Birch isn't actually plywood, it's a hardwood.
