Unpopular opinion: I used to think a biscuit joiner was a waste of money, but after a client in Charlotte complained about a wobbly table I built 6 months ago, I finally bought a Porter Cable one.

Now I use it for every single miter joint on face frames and haven't had a callback since, but am I just overdoing it on simple boxes?

Honestly, if it stops the wobbles, you can't overdo it. I went through the same thing, swore I was fine with glue and clamps until a bookshelf literally came apart in someone's living room. Now I put those little footballs in everything, even my kid's birdhouse project. It's not overkill, it's just not wanting to get that phone call ever again.

My old shop teacher always said a joint you can't see is the strongest one. He drilled that into our heads, so I'm with you on using them even for simple stuff. Better safe than sorry with a wobbly table, lol.
