Update: I realized I've been cutting all my plywood dados at 3/8 inch for years because that's how I was taught, but a client's antique hardware needed a true 1/2 inch and my whole jig was off.

I only figured it out after I couldn't get the drawer slides from a 1950s dresser rebuild to fit, and now I'm rethinking every cabinet box I've built since my apprenticeship.

Ever have a buddy who built his whole kitchen around a single weird measurement? My friend did his countertop support cleats at some odd fraction he swore by, then couldn't install a single standard appliance. Had to rebuild every base cabinet. That kind of thing sticks with you and makes you double check every old habit.

Well, that's a fun new layer of existential dread for the shop.
