I kept asking for a raise the wrong way for two years

I was talking to a friend who works in HR, and she asked me how I usually bring up pay. I told her I'd just say 'I think I deserve more' during my yearly review. She said that's why it never worked, because I wasn't showing my value with numbers. So last month, I made a list of three specific projects I led that saved money, like the office re-floor job that came in $2,000 under budget. I used that list in my talk with my boss, and it actually worked. What's a better way to track your wins for stuff like this?

Yeah, a simple notes app list works great for me.

My old boss used to call that a "brag folder," just a plain document where you drop in wins as they happen. Makes it way easier than trying to remember everything a year later.

@hayden587 yeah that's spot on. I just kept a running note in my phone with quick entries whenever something went well, saved my ass during reviews.
