Tbh, my whole plan to switch into tech this spring fell apart

I signed up for a coding bootcamp in March, but the pace was way too fast and I got lost after the first two weeks. I had to drop out and now I'm back at my old retail job. Has anyone else tried to make a big career change that just didn't work out?

Sounds like you just needed a different learning style.

I used to believe the learning style thing was the main issue too. But after seeing what happened to my friend who tried a coding bootcamp, I changed my mind. It's exactly like what @the_tessa described, where the course jumps ahead way too fast. Sometimes the material is just not taught well, and it's not the student's fault at all.

Ugh, that's rough. I was reading this article about how a lot of those bootcamps are set up for people who already have some basic background. It's like trying to learn a whole new language in a month. A friend of mine had the same thing happen with a data analytics course. She said the first module was fine, then it jumped straight to writing complex scripts without explaining the middle steps. It just doesn't work for everyone.
