The difference in YouTube comments from 2016 to now is honestly depressing
I went back to watch a popular tech review video I remembered from 8 years ago. The comments used to be people arguing about the actual specs and features. Now the same video has people screaming about politics and calling each other names. It's not the platform that changed, it's the algorithm pushing outrage. Anyone else notice this with older videos you revisit?

DUDE this is SO true. I saw it happen to a car review channel I loved.

Three million subscribers and then poof - they started chasing that algorithm hard. It happened to a retro gaming channel I followed too, @ericp67. They used to have this real raw vibe with their reviews, then suddenly it was all clickbait thumbnails and "don't forget to smash like" every 30 seconds. Just feels like once creators hit a certain size they forget what made people watch them in the first place.
