Eleven trips sounds about right for any visa process honestly. My brother went through something similar trying to get a visa for a different country and it took him almost a full year of back and forth. The thing nobody talks about is how much the staff changes at those counters from visit to visit, so you get different answers every time.

Wait was this for a Z visa or something else? I used to think people were just exaggerating about the consulate stuff but man you went 11 times that's insane. Honestly this changed my whole view on how tough the process actually is, I always figured it was just a few trips and some patience but clearly not. Props to you for sticking with it through all that hassle, most people would have given up after like the third trip. Hope the job or whatever you're going for in China is worth all the headache.
