That study about household food waste blew my mind
I always thought I was pretty good about not wasting food, but I read a report from the NRDC saying the average US family throws away about $1,500 worth of food every year. I checked my own trash for a week and yeah, I was tossing out half-eaten leftovers and wilted veggies without even thinking. Has anyone else tried tracking their food waste for a week and been surprised by what they found?

Haha yeah I did that once and found out I was basically running a compost business out of my fridge without the marketing plan. The wilted spinach situation in my crisper drawer is honestly embarrassing.

Honestly that study just makes you realize we're all running tiny landfills in our kitchens. My fridge has that one mystery container in the back that's basically a science project by now. Tracking it for a week just confirmed I buy lettuce with way too much optimism about my future salad-eating self.
