Vent: Bought a $400 probe tool and it failed on the first production run

Grabbed that fancy Renishaw probe setup for the Haas VF-2, thought it would save setup time, but it freaked out after 10 parts and gave me scrap. Anyone else get burned by a supposedly 'upgraded' tool that just made things worse?

Did you do the full calibration routine before running it? I've seen guys skip that step and get burned every time. Those probes are great when they work, but they need careful setup. Sounds like you got a bad one, or maybe it just lost its reference mid-run. I would call Renishaw support before messing with it further.

Lost its reference mid-run" sounds like a thermal drift issue... did you check the machine's warmup cycle?
