Learning Python with a book vs doing a project first - 6 months apart
Spent my first 3 months grinding through a Python textbook and felt like I knew nothing, then switched to building a simple game and learned more in 3 weeks. Anyone else find that jumping straight into a project taught you faster than structured lessons?

Totally, books made me feel smart but projects actually made me learn.

Books are awful for learning to code. Spent 2 months on one and couldn't even write a loop without looking it up. Built a stupid little calculator app and suddenly everything clicked. The book stuff just goes in one ear and out the other. Projects force you to actually think and solve problems, that's where the real learning happens.
