Blew $60 on a fancy coffee grinder that couldn't even do espresso

Picked up one of those hand crank ceramic burr grinders from a local shop, thought I was saving money. First batch took 4 minutes to grind 18 grams, and the grind size was all over the place. Tried to pull a shot with my Gaggia and it channeled so bad I got muddy water. Has anyone else wasted cash on a grinder that just didn't cut it for real espresso?

Had the exact same problem with a cheap ceramic grinder I bought online. It took forever to hand crank a single dose and the channelling made my shots taste like sour dirt. Learned the hard way that you really do need to spend proper money for espresso consistency.

4 minutes for 18 grams? Bro you got the espresso version of a rowboat. I timed mine once just for fun, hit 6 minutes and the grinder started smoking. Actually caught a whiff of burning plastic. Call it pre-infusion if it makes you feel better.
