A speaker got uninvited from my old community college and it felt like a rerun

I saw on the alumni page that my old school in Fresno pulled the invite for a professor who was going to talk about city planning. The official reason was 'scheduling conflicts', but the student paper found emails showing a few complaints about her past articles. It's the same thing that happened with a historian there three years ago. At what point does avoiding a fuss become the same as picking sides?

Remember the historian three years ago? The school said that was a scheduling thing too, but it was really about a petition. I mean, saying it's just 'a few loud complaints' makes it sound small, but if they keep doing it, it's a pattern. It's not about who's loudest, it's about the school choosing to hide instead of having a real talk. They're picking the side of quiet, even if it means lying about why.

Spot this happening everywhere now, @wood.john. Schools and companies would rather cancel something than deal with a few loud complaints. It feels less like keeping peace and more like letting the loudest voices win every time.
