Got an ex-White House press secretary disinvited from my campus because of a parking dispute

I accidentally blocked in a student organizer's car during the pre-talk setup and she got so mad she had the whole event cancelled. Learned that campus parking logistics can derail free speech faster than any protest.

My buddy had a whole poetry reading cancelled at UCLA cause his van was in the wrong loading zone.

and honestly I used to roll my eyes at people who said parking issues were a free speech issue but this definitely changed my mind. like @nathan545 said his buddy's whole poetry reading got canned over a van in a loading zone its just ridiculous. a parking dispute is about as petty as it gets for derailing something like this and it shows how fragile these event setups really are. one person's car blocking another and suddenly the whole talk is gone. makes you wonder how many other events get killed by stuff that has nothing to do with the actual content of the speech.
