Vent: I spent a whole morning cleaning a fan that wasn't even plugged in

Got a call for a loud gaming PC in a kid's room. Opened it up, saw dust bunnies the size of a mouse. Spent like 45 minutes with my Datavac, cleaning every blade on the CPU cooler. Noise was still there, loud and grinding. Finally looked at the back panel. The whole rear case fan cable was just dangling, not connected to the motherboard at all. The noise was a bad bearing, not dust. I felt so dumb. Anyone else ever miss something that obvious because you jumped right to the usual fix?

That "jumped right to the usual fix" thing is so real. I once spent a week trying to fix a weird engine sputter on my old truck, replacing all the usual sensors. Turned out a mouse had built a huge nest in the air filter box, it was completely blocked. I was so focused on the complicated stuff I never checked the simplest part first.

A whole week on sensors with a blocked air filter. That's brutal. I can't believe the mouse nest got that bad without you noticing. Makes you feel kind of dumb for missing the obvious fix. Always check the cheap and easy stuff first, right? Lesson learned the hard way.
