On our site, we're divided over adding accelerant to the mix.

Is it a necessary evil for tight schedules or just bad practice?

Speaking of "adding accelerant to the mix," have you considered how it might affect the long-term durability of the material? (Like, if it's concrete, speeding up the cure can make it weaker over time.) That hidden cost of future repairs could wipe out any schedule gains, which is a trade-off we rarely discuss.

Wait, the real kicker is how it messes with the crew's schedule later. Rush a cure now and you'll need way more skilled labor later for fixes, blowing the budget anyway.

Plus, if the specs change later, you're stuck with a brittle base that can't handle the new load. That's a whole other level of rework they never budget for.
