Rain hit mid-pour in Spokane and I nearly lost the whole slab

We were finishing a 1,400 square foot driveway in Spokane last Friday and the clouds opened up right as we started the final trowel pass. Water started beading on the surface and I could see it turning into a mess, so I grabbed a broom and worked the water off the edges while my partner cut in a shallow trench with a hand trowel to redirect runoff. It took about 20 frantic minutes, but we managed to keep the finish smooth and the customer came out just as the sun broke through. Has anyone else dealt with a surprise storm like that and what do you do to prep on days with any rain chance?

That broom trick saved my ass too, tarp and a leaf blower are my go to now.

Man, I used to think the tarp thing was overkill... but after one windy day where I almost lost half my leaves to the neighbors yard, I get it now. @kevin_carr, you might've just saved me from that same headache.
