My old way of mixing color was a huge waste of product

For years I would just eyeball the developer and color straight from the tubes, which often left me with way too much leftover that I had to toss. About six months ago, I started using a small digital scale I got for $25 to weigh my grams exactly. Now I mix only what I need for each section, and my waste is basically zero. Has anyone else switched to weighing their color, and did you notice a big drop in your monthly product costs?

Totally agree, weighing changed everything for me. I started by just weighing the color cream itself, but then I realized my developer waste was still high. So now I weigh both parts for every single formula, even my go-to roots touch-up. My color shelf used to be full of half-used tubes that dried out, now I finish a tube completely before opening a new one. The scale paid for itself in maybe two months.

Ever try those little condiment cups for mixing? I switched to those and cut my waste way down.

So you weigh the developer too? That's smart. My waste is mostly from mixing too much developer for small formulas. What kind of scale do you use, one that measures tiny amounts or just a regular kitchen scale?
