Shoutout to the stylist in Tampa who insisted I try a 'wet cut' on dry hair, which I thought was a total gimmick until I saw the results on a client with 2C curls.
I was fully prepared for a disaster, but the precision from cutting each curl while it was dry and defined, then checking the shape with a spray bottle, gave a way better shape than my old wet-first method, so has anyone else made a switch that seemed backwards but actually worked better?

Yeah, that dry-first method is a total game changer for curls.

Wait, isn't that just a dry cut? Honestly, a true wet cut is done on soaking wet hair to blunt the shape. What you're describing is cutting dry curls and then dampening them to check your work, which is the standard dry cutting method for curly hair. It's a great technique, but the stylist might have used the wrong name for it. Tbh, that mix-up happens a lot in salons. The important thing is you found a method that works way better for your curls.
