Tower crane vs. crawler crane for tight city lots

Rented a 60-ton crawler for a job downtown last month. Thought it'd handle the alley access fine. Big mistake. Took 4 hours just to get it positioned and the outriggers set. Switched to a tower crane for the next building. Night and day difference. The tower footprint was tiny and we had the lift done in under 30 minutes. Anyone else run into this on cramped urban sites?

Wait, really? I actually had the opposite experience with that. Things turned out way better than I expected once I just went for it.
