Hot take: I spent $800 on a funeral plot and it actually brought me peace
Lost my dad 2 years ago in Austin and we didn't have anything planned. I decided to buy a burial plot for myself after that, even though my friends said it was morbid and a waste of cash. Cost me $800 but now when I visit his grave I can see exactly where I'll end up and it just feels less scary. Has anyone else actually done this or am I the only weirdo planning ahead?

Wait $800 is actually pretty cheap for a plot, that's probably a cemetery in a less expensive area or maybe a cremation plot instead of a full burial space. Most plots run closer to $2000-$4000 depending on where you live. I'd double check that price because it might not include opening and closing fees which can be another $1000 or more. But honestly good for you for planning ahead, it's wild how people think it's weird to make peace with death when we're all gonna face it eventually.

@mia_singh24 right, I did the same thing and found a plot for $750 but the fees doubled it.
