Checked my router logs and saw 2,400 blocked intrusion attempts in a week

I set up a basic firewall rule on my home network after a weird port scan alert, and the log count blew my mind. It's just a regular apartment in Phoenix, so I didn't expect that much constant noise. Does anyone else check their logs and get freaked out by the numbers?

It's mostly just background noise from bots scanning entire IP blocks. My own logs show similar numbers, but the actual risk is pretty low if your setup is basic and secure. A lot of those attempts are for old services you probably don't even run.

Honestly, that number sounds low for a week, my logs are way worse.

That "background noise" idea is wild. It's like digital pollution. You see it everywhere now, like spam calls that ring once and hang up, or those fake package texts. The internet just has this constant low-level hum of stuff trying to get in, like checking doorknobs in a whole neighborhood at once. Makes you wonder what the actual quiet version of the web would even feel like.
