I caught my neighbor lecturing me on church history and got almost everything wrong
We were out watering plants last Saturday, and he started telling me how the King James Bible was the original translation from the 1st century. I had to gently explain it was from 1611, based on earlier texts. He doubled down and said the Council of Nicea picked which books went in the Bible, which is only half true. When I asked where he learned this, he said a YouTube video. Has anyone else run into people who think they know religious history from a few internet clips?

Did he also tell you the King James Bible was written by a committee of angels or something? I've had a neighbor try to explain the Apocrypha to me and got the whole list wrong. Where do they even find this stuff, like is it all from the same bad YouTube algorithm?

Is that the same neighbor who insists the original scrolls were written in “angelic script” or something? I heard a guy at a coffee shop claim the Dead Sea Scrolls proved aliens wrote half the Bible, and I just wanted to ask him what YouTube channel he was on.
