That 'premium' business insurance I was sure was a scam saved my ass last month
I run a small auto repair shop on Gratiot. Been paying $400 a month for this policy for 3 years, always figured it was just money down the drain. Then a customer's car caught fire in my lot, spread to two other vehicles waiting for pickup. Total damage $28k. My old policy would have covered maybe half. This one paid out everything in 2 weeks. My agent just said 'told you so'. Anyone else have a business expense they grudgingly pay that actually came through when things went sideways?

Evan_stone has a point, bigger fires are always possible. It's like how I grumbled about paying for a roadside assistance plan for years, then my delivery van blew a tire on 94 in the middle of the night. I was thinking about that monthly fee while I sat on the shoulder, and then the tow truck showed up in 20 minutes. You don't realize these things are worth it until you're standing there watching something go sideways. What's the one expense you keep paying even though it bugs you every month?

$400 a month for three years? That's almost $15k out the door before you even got a dime back. I would've been furious paying that every month.
