Tried posting art on Insta vs. ArtStation and the difference was night and day

I spent like 6 months putting my digital paintings on Instagram, tagging everything right, using all the trending hashtags. I'd get maybe 12 likes and a comment from my mom. Last week I finally set up an ArtStation account and posted the same piece. It got 340 views in the first day and someone from a small game studio actually reached out about freelance work. The difference is night and day. Instagram is just people scrolling past, but ArtStation feels like an actual portfolio where people go to look for art. Has anyone else jumped ship from one platform and seen way better results?

Honestly that's crazy but I'm not surprised. I had the same thing happen with my photography work. I was killing myself trying to grow on Instagram for like a year and getting nowhere. Then I put my stuff on 500px and within a week some travel blog reached out asking to use one of my photos. It's like Instagram just buries your stuff unless you're already popular or pay for ads. ArtStation actually feels like people are there to HUNT for talent, not just scroll mindlessly. Congrats on that freelance lead too, that's huge.

Instagram is just a popularity contest with better lighting...
