Paid $40 for a VPN to read news from back home, now I'm not sure if it's worth the risk
I got a subscription so I could see articles my family sends that are blocked here. It works, but I keep reading about people getting their accounts flagged for using them. Is using a VPN to get around regional blocks a smart workaround or just asking for a platform ban?

Honestly, it's a trade-off. I've used one for years to watch sports. The key is to not log into anything important while it's on. Use a private browser window just for reading those articles. Don't check your main email or bank account with the VPN active. That way if the IP gets flagged, it's not tied to your real accounts. The risk is pretty low if you're just reading news and not posting.
