Saw a guy bragging about making $8k/month from a van in Costa Rica
I was scrolling through Instagram and some influencer dude was flaunting his setup in Tamarindo, claiming he works 10 hours a week. Meanwhile, I've been bouncing between hostels in Medellin for 6 months and barely scraping by on $2,500 a month freelancing. It just got me thinking, how many of those stories are real and how many are just for the likes? Has anyone else felt like the whole digital nomad dream is way oversold online?

Those influencer stories are often more about selling a lifestyle than the actual reality.

Six figures for a sponsored post about protein powder and a plane ticket? Honestly it's hard to feel bad for them when people are scraping by just to pay rent.
