Unpopular opinion: I blew $500 on a 'nomad hotspot' plan that barely worked outside the US
I mean, the ads made it sound perfect for hopping between countries, but the connection in Lisbon was basically unusable. Has anyone found a reliable global data plan that doesn't cost a fortune?

Honestly, that "unusable in Lisbon" story is why I stopped trusting those perfect ads too.

Oh man, that Lisbon story really got around, didn't it? But @stone.jesse, I actually heard the real issue was a weird cell network handoff, not the product itself. The ads are still way too polished and hide the normal stuff, for sure. It just bugs me when a single rumor, even a partly wrong one, becomes the whole story. Makes it harder to figure out what's actually a bad buy.

Wait, has anyone actually used one of these things day to day? I had a buddy who grabbed one of those because of the slick ads and it was a total mess. He went to this music festival out in the sticks and the thing just kept dropping calls like crazy. He said it was fine at home but the second he got off the main highway it was basically a brick. The whole "Lisbon" rumor probably blew up because people were already frustrated with spotty performance, not just one bad story. It sucks when the hype hides how a product acts in the real world where you actually live, you know?
