Rant: Tried the cheap grout saw from Harbor Freight against my old manual tool

I was regrouting my bathroom shower last weekend and grabbed the $8 saw on a whim. That thing broke after three tiles and left plastic shavings everywhere. Why do people still recommend those over just a good carbide scraper?

My first cheap grout saw lasted about four tiles before the handle snapped clean off. I feel your pain on those Harbor Freight tools being a total gamble sometimes. A solid carbide scraper with a sharp edge has never let me down halfway through a job.

Man, my first grout saw didn't even last four tiles. It broke before I could finish the first line. At least you got some use out of yours before it gave up.

Yeah I feel you @leo_kelly, that carbide scraper is a lifesaver. I switched to one after my third cheap grout saw bit the dust and it just keeps going. Never going back to those flimsy plastic handles again.
