After a scare last week, I'm making sure we check anchor lines twice

I think skipping anchor checks is a bad idea. Our line broke while we were turning, and we almost damaged the spud. Now I tell my crew to check everything twice.

What exactly gave out on your line? Was it worn through, a bad splice, or did the cleat just let go? Knowing what actually broke tells you what to check closer next time, like if you need to replace hardware or just watch for chafing.

Good point about checking hardware first! Honestly the cleat or shackle gives way way more often than the line itself. Seen so many "broken lines" that were just bad hardware fails.
