Vent: stuck on a cutterhead bearing swap for 6 hours

Spent all morning fighting a stubborn bearing on our 8-inch cutterhead dredge down at the Port of Houston. Should have been a 2-hour job but the race seized up from old grease and corrosion. Anyone else run into bearings that just refuse to budge on older equipment?

You ever seen a guy try to use a torch on a bearing housing and almost set his sleeve on fire? Buddy of mine had one laughin' at him for hours before he gave up and cut the whole thing off with a grinder.

Is it really THAT serious though? Sounds like your buddy just needed to step back and think it through instead of making it a whole afternoon project, @jenny580.
