Overheard a guy at the post office talking about packing peanuts as a scam

He said they just add weight and cost, and he switched to kraft paper for his fragile items. I tried it on my last 50 ceramic orders and only had one break, same as before. Anyone else move away from foam packing peanuts?

Wait have you tried crinkle cut paper yet? That stuff is awesome for fragile items, way less mess than packing peanuts and you can reuse it a bunch of times. I switched to it for shipping my handblown glass last year and had maybe 2 breaks out of 300 orders, so it's worth the extra couple bucks per box. Kraft paper is cool too but I feel like the crinkle stuff cushions better for weird shaped things. The peanuts always gave me static shock city and got stuck in my carpet forever, never going back lol.

My aunt used to call packing peanuts "nature's glitter" because they'd stick to everything forever. It's funny how we'll pay extra for something annoying just because it's always been the standard. Switching to simpler options like kraft paper feels like one of those little moves that just makes life easier.
