That $60 Shopify app that broke my checkout page
I paid $60 a month for a "one click upsell" app that was supposed to boost my average order value by 30%. After three weeks my cart abandonment rate jumped from 65% to 82% and I couldn't figure out why. Turns out the app was conflicting with my theme and breaking the checkout flow on mobile devices. Has anyone else had an app cause silent damage like that before noticing?

First thing you do is clone your theme and test every new app one at a time on that clone before you go live. That $60 mistake cost you way more than the monthly fee in lost sales. Pull up the app's support logs or disable all other apps to isolate the conflict, then decide if the dev can fix it or you cut bait.

Ive got three different test stores now from doing exactly this... learned that one the hard way after a $50 app broke my whole checkout flow on Black Friday. Still have a folder called "Dont touch the live site" on my desktop from that nightmare. my husband still brings up the 12 hour panic session I had fixing it. The clone method really is the only way to sleep at night if youre like me and cant resist trying every new shiny app.
