Just realized most people are getting the wrong kind of lawyer for traffic tickets
I see it all the time in this sub... someone gets a speeding ticket in Edmonton and immediately hires a big criminal defense firm. But for a simple photo radar or red light ticket you really just need a ticket specialist. I learned this the hard way after paying $400 to a lawyer downtown who barely touched my case. Has anyone else noticed how many people overcomplicate these minor infractions?

Happens with way more than just lawyers though. People at the mechanic ask for a full engine rebuild when they just need a new spark plug. And at the grocery store you see someone buy a whole new phone charger because the cable frayed instead of just replacing the cord. We all just default to the biggest fix instead of the right one. Steering people to the actual specialist instead of the fancy generalist would save everyone time and money.

Man that's so true and it hits home every time. I've had my car in for simple things and they try to sell me a whole new transmission when it's just a sensor. People don't trust the cheap fix because they think simple means scammy. But then you end up paying way more for stuff you didn't need and still have the original problem. Really makes you wish there was a way to just ask the actual guy who fixes this stuff every day instead of the guy at the front desk. We're all just trying not to get taken for a ride.
