My car battery died in the middle of the Whyte Ave traffic last Tuesday
I was stuck at the light near 104 Street and suddenly everything just shut off. No warning, no slow crank, just dead. Had to push it to the side and call CAA, but they said it would be 90 minutes. Ended up getting a jump from a guy in a pickup, but now I'm wondering if I should just replace the battery anyway since it's 4 years old. Anyone know a good shop around Edmonton that does free battery testing?

Calgary's got Canadian Tire, they do free battery tests (and install if needed).

Hold up @phoenix_campbell88, I gotta push back on that one. Canadian Tire is fine for a quick test but their "free install" is kind of a gimmick, they'll upsell you on a battery that costs double what you'd pay at Costco or even Walmart. Plus half the time the kid working the counter doesn't actually check the alternator or the connection points, they just slap a new battery in and send you out. I've seen them miss corroded terminals more than once. Better to grab a multimeter from Princess Auto for $15 and test it yourself, then you know exactly what's going on.
