Serious question, is the LRT actually getting worse or is it just me?
I was looking at the city's own transit stats last night on edmonton.ca and saw that LRT on-time performance dropped to 78% in 2024, down from 85% in 2019. That's a pretty big jump considering they added the Valley Line Southeast too. My buddy says it's just growing pains with the new line but my commute to Clareview has been late like 4 times this month alone. What do you all think, is this a real decline or are we just noticing it more?

Man, I feel this so hard. My ride from Century Park to Bay station has been late at least twice a week for the last month, and I've started leaving 15 minutes earlier just to be safe. The Valley Line being added definitely seems to have thrown off the whole schedule, like they didn't think about how much it would mess with everything else. You're not crazy, those stats you pulled match what I'm seeing on the ground every single day.

I swear my internal clock is now just set to "arrive 12 minutes early and stare at the train tracker like a creep." My commute from Clareview to Corona has been a mess too, I've had three mornings this month where the train just sat at Belvedere for no reason for like 8 minutes. The Valley Line definitely threw a wrench in everything, feels like they just plugged it in without recalibrating the whole system first.

Wait till you factor in the signal priority issues. Those crossing gates by the Stadium stop are throwing the whole timing off, @the_jason probably noticed it too. The city spent millions on new crossing tech for Valley Line but forgot to update the old line sensors.
