Switched to digital leveling on all my traction elevators last year
I used to do all my rail alignment by feel and a 4 foot bubble level. After 3 botched jobs where the car still had drift issues, I finally bought a Hilti laser level and digital angle finder. It cost me about $700 for the setup but saved me a full day of rework on a 30 story job in Denver. Now I zero out every bracket before I even bolt it up. Anyone else made the jump from analog to digital and never looked back?

Took me losing a whole weekend recalibrating a 36 stop job to finally cave and buy a digital setup. Never going back now.

Funny how one bad weekend is all it takes to make you change your whole workflow. I had a similar moment with a 24 stop job that shifted overnight and I just threw my hands up and ordered a digital readout the next morning. My advice is to get something with a locking feature so you can lock in your settings if you have to walk away for a bit. Also, make sure you label your presets clearly or you'll end up in the same boat just with more buttons. The learning curve isn't bad, but having a spare battery pack on hand is a lifesaver for longer runs. Once you get past that first setup you'll wonder why you didn't switch sooner.
