Bought a $40 book on pricing strategy and it changed how I charge

Was bitching to my buddy Mike who runs a painting business about how I keep underbidding jobs. He handed me this beat up book called The Price is Wrong or something, got it off Amazon for 40 bucks. Basically says to anchor your quote to the value the client gets, not your time plus materials. First time I tried it I quoted a basement floor at $2,800 instead of my usual $1,800 and the guy didn't even blink. Any other solo operators find a specific resource that helped them stop leaving money on the table?

It's a decent feeling I guess, but it's not like you just discovered fire or something. People act like they solved world hunger because a line of code finally compiled.
