I picked the cheap web hosting to save cash and spent 3 weekends fixing downtime

Started my little side business selling handmade dental care kits online and had to choose between $10 a month hosting and a $40 plan. Went cheap, and my site crashed during a holiday sale, costing me about $300 in lost orders. Anyone else learn this lesson the hard way with hosting costs?

Used to be all about saving a buck on hosting until I lost a weekend to a broken site. That cheap plan cost me more in time and stress than the upgrade ever would have.

Stuck with a mid-range host that had decent support after that happened to me once. I figured paying a little more each month was worth it if it meant I could actually sleep through the night. Peace of mind is way cheaper than scrambling to fix a broken site on a Saturday.

Funny enough, my cheap host went down the same weekend I decided to save money by doing my own site backups. Figured out real quick that "unlimited bandwidth" doesn't mean much when your entire store disappears for two days straight. That $30 difference felt like a real bargain for my ruined weekend and lost sales.
