Update on my e-commerce site's payment gateway integration
What I thought would be a 2-day setup for Stripe in my online store turned into a 3-week nightmare of API errors and failed test transactions before I finally got it live.

Heard a podcast where a dev said the Stripe docs make it look easy but the real world setup is a trap. They talked about how tax settings or webhook URLs can silently fail for days. Honestly, your three week fight sounds exactly like their story, just endless test payments that decline for no clear reason. Tbh it makes me nervous to even try it on my own site now.

That podcast is totally right about the silent fails! Read a blog post last week where someone's webhook was set up wrong, and they didn't know for a week that none of their subscriptions were renewing. The test environment works until it doesn't, and then you're just stuck guessing. It really seems like the easy setup is just for the most basic cases, and anything real gets messy fast. Makes you want to just use PayPal and call it a day, even with their higher fees.
